Bio
Peter Dale began his law
enforcement career in 1963 with the New Orleans Police Department
as a cadet. He experienced all aspects of law enforcement from riding
a horse, walking a beat, being part of the motorcycle unit, the
robbery division and the homicide division to Peter's being appointed
by the Mayor of New Orleans to serve on his personal security force.
Peter was with
New Orleans for 17 years when he retired.
Peter graduated from
Loyola University with a degree in criminology in 1968.
In 1980 Peter joined
Sheriff Harry Lee and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department.
Certified in crime prevention, he led the Junior Deputy program,
set up Students Against Drunk Driving chapters and created 100
Neighborhood Watch programs.
After leaving the Sheriff's
Department he became Director of Parks and Recreation for the
City of Harahan.
In 1998 he ran for
Harahan City Council and won.
After four years as
Councilman, Peter wanted to go back to his first passion - Law
Enforcement.
Peter ran in 2002
for the position of Chief of Police of the City of Harahan and
won by an overwhelming majority. Since being elected Peter has
implemented significant community programs in the department.
He has brought back the Motorcycle Division, Bicycle Division
and Neighborhood Watch. Peter has started an Emergency Response
Unit manned by a CPR Specialist and emergency response teams.
He started a Cadet Program for young adults who are interested
in law enforcement. This past March he initiated a Junior Police
program for boys and girls from 9 - 15 years old.
Chief Dale was elected
into the Semipro Football Hall of Fame in December 2004.
During hurricane Katrina
Chief Dale quickly setup check points within the city of Harahan
and welcomed with open arms law enforcement officers from other
states. He was recently honored by the New Jersey State Police
with a Certificate of Appreciation.
Harahan is one of Louisiana's
Safest Cities and Peter is committed to keeping it that way,
